bah qadr-e-zarf hai saaqi khumaar-e-tishnah-kaami bh

bah qadr-e-zarf hai saaqi khumaar-e-tishnah-kaami bhi
jo tu daryaa-e mai hai to maiN Khamyaaza hooN saahil ka

بہ قدرِ ظرف ہے ساقی خمارِ تشنہ کامی بھی
جو تو دریاۓ مے ہے تو میں خمیازہ ہوں ساحل کا

ba-qadr = according
zarf = capacity
khumaar = intoxication
tishna-kaami = thirst [for wine]
mai = wine
khamyaaza = yawn (angRaai)

O Saaqi, according to the capacity is the intoxication of thirst
if you are the sea of wine, then I am the stretch of the shoreline.

pyaas aur sharaab ki talab saaqi ke hausle ke munasib hi rehti hai
agar saaqi darya hai to hum uss ke lab se lage hue saahil ke maanind hain
Jis qadar darya mein josh ho, saahil us ko apne aap mein samoye rakhta hai
Jab darya ka josh baRhta hai to saahil peeche ho jaata hai aur jab darya sookh jaata hai to saahil ishtiyaaq mein aur qareeb aa jaata hai, lekin kisi bhi haal mein darya ka saath nahin chhoRtaa.

The shoreline will always follow the river.
Even if the river dries up the shore still remains.
When flooded the shore line recedes back but never gives up.
Therefore, if you are like a sea of wine then I am that thirst that will always be in proportion to your generosity
